Opponents of a proposal to establish a fish farm in Algoa Bay will be presenting a memorandum to officials on Saturday.
This will take place on the city's beachfront, following a unique protest that includes a run, swim, walk and even a snorkel dive.
It starts at Hobie Beach at 9 am and proceeds to Humewood Beach where the handover is expected to take place.
This follows the announcement of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ (DAFF) plan to bring commercial fish farming to the Bay in three locations.
Gary Koekemoer, the chairperson of the Algoa Bay environmental group, Wessa, says they are one of many organisations opposing plans for the aquaculture development in the Bay.
"We think its a world-first - we're doing a protest celebration against the fish farm, and all fish farms in Algoa Bay. We don't think any of them are suited to the conditions here", he said.
Koekemoer says they think it's also a celebration of what the Bay has, like the unique conditions, which make it suitable for a whole lot of open water activities.
