Protest action by Sun International workers flared up again, with a group of workers pickerting outside the Boardwalk entrance in Port Elizabeth.
Dozens of workers who are members of the South African Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers, started their protest outside the Second Avenue entrance at 10 Am on Friday morning.
SACCAWU shop stewart Loyiso Thomas told Algoa FM News that striking workers have been locked out.
They are demanding, among others, an 8% wage increase and 180 working hours per month.
Thomas said the CCMA has now intervened in the matter.
He added that Sun International has not attempted to meet with the Union resolve the matter.
" At the moment we have an intervention from the CCMA which will seat next week on the 7th of October.
"So as we stand the strike is still going forward and our people are still standing by their guns. The company still has not responded to date. I know they have deliberated in many articles saying that they are trying their to best as to meet with us,to be honest they are lying,they haven't done any attempts"- He said.
