SA National Parks has launched in investigation into the alleged contravention of laws related to Marine Protected Areas.
This follows an incident in the early hours of this morning's at Bird Island near Port Elizabeth where six men in a rubber duck had to be towed ashore by the NSRI after their engine failed.
Sanparks spokesperson, Megan Taplin, says officials found diving gear on the boat which has been confiscated as part of the investigation.
She says a GPS device which was also seized will be sent for analysis.
