A private security guard on duty in Gqeberha was shot and killed, allegedly for his firearm on Saturday.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says 30-year-old Ridgeley Watson was shot multiple times while driving his Nissan NP200 on the corner of the M14 and Kohler Street in Perseverance.
She said when Watson was shot, his vehicle veered towards a stationary Yaris where the driver was busy changing his tyre.
The murder happened in broad daylight, shortly after 2 p.m.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says it is alleged that one of the suspects reached into Watson's vehicle, stole his firearm, and fled the scene.
She says the driver of the Yaris, who witnessed the incident, alerted police and waited at the scene.
The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is now on the hunt for those involved.
Police say the motive is robbery and a case of murder is under investigation.
