Power still out in some EC communities following storm

File

Eskom said it was moving closer to completely restoring electricity supply to customers who were affected by this week’s storm which wreaked havoc in some parts of the Eastern Cape.

Houses and structures were damaged and at least three fatalities reported by the humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers.

Eskom said the storm damaged Eskom’s infrastructure leaving thousands of customers without electricity.

“Since Tuesday, technicians have been working hard in an effort to restore supply to impacted areas and the number of customers still without electricity has significantly dropped,” it said in a statement on Saturday.

Work was continuing to restore power to those customers still offline.

“We appeal for patience during this period and advise customers to treat all electrical appliances as live as electricity could be restored at any time,” Eskom said.
