An Eastern Cape Postmaster, who reportedly confessed to being the mastermind behind a robbery at a Post Office where R720 000 was stolen, is due to bring a bail application in the Dordrecht Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The Postmaster is scheduled to appear along with his four co-accused, which include a Burundian national and a government official who was the driver of the getaway vehicle.
It is alleged that on the 2nd of September, three of the suspects walked into the Dordrecht Post Office carrying firearms.
Moments earlier, an amount of R600 000 had been delivered to the Post Office as requested by the Postmaster.
The suspects disarmed the security guard, before demanding the money at gunpoint.
They made off with a total amount of R720 000.
Police acted swiftly and arrested three suspects in Komani the following day.
Officials also confiscated the stolen firearm and recovered R250 000 of the stolen money.
The suspects cannot be named at this stage of the investigation.
