Port Elizabeth have opened an inquest docket following a shooting incident at a beachfront hotel.
Police spokesperson, captain Johan Rheeder, says the body of a 41-year-old local man was found in one of the rooms of the four-star Paxton Hotel.
He says the man had booked himself into the hotel on Thursday night and when he was not contactable, a hotel staff member opened the double-locked room door where his body was found.
Rheeder says his name has not yet been released and police do not suspect foul play.
The managing director of the Paxton Hotel, Werner Peterseil, confirmed the shooting saying it appears to have happened during the night.
