A woman from Port Alfred who was mauled to death by dogs on Sunday has been identified.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says she was identified as 37-year-old Zimkhitha Gaga.
Gaga was walking on Alfred Road when she was attacked.
Colonel Naidu said when police arrived on the scene the badly injured woman was lying on the side of the road.
She says the woman sustained severe injuries to her face and upper body and the dogs were nowhere to be found.
SAPS Port Alfred detectives are searching for the owner of the dogs.
Meanwhile, Gaga's employer, who owns a restaurant in town took to social media to announce that the business will be closed on Monday as staff members need time to process and grieve.
