Eastern Cape police have identified the woman killed in an accident on the R72 near Alexandria on Monday morning.
She was 51 year-old East London physiotherapist Gerda Bence.
There has been an outpouring of condolences on social media for Bence, who was returning to East London from a dog-show in Port Elizabeth at the weekend, when the accident happened.
It appears that she lost control of her vehicle which then overturned.
Police Captain Mali Govender reports that three of her dogs with her at the time of the accident and that two of them were killed in the crash.
The third dog is in the care of the SPCA.
The Baakens Valley Dog School in Port Elizabeth extended its deepest condolences to Bence's family in a post on facebook. It said two of her dogs, Sproetjie and Chompie, had also passed away in the accident.
Police said a case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
