Political parties focus their attention on the Eastern Cape

President Jacob Zuma continues his visit to the Eastern Cape this weekend when he unveils a memorial tomorrow to the so-called Elliot Four.

The initiative is coordinated by Chris Hani District Municipality in partnership with the National Heritage Council, the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality and the Bhisho Government.

The Elliot Four monument site is where a battle between Umkhonto We sizwe fighters and apartheid security forces took place in 1981 in which four MK fighters were killed.

Meanwhile, Zuma was due to launch the massive Mzimvubu Water Project in the Alfred Nzo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape on Friday.

The project entails the construction of two multi-purpose dams on the Tsitsa River, which is a tributary of the Mzimvubu River, to supply water for irrigation, agriculture, domestic and industrial use.

Meanwhile, the DA will also focus attention on the Eastern Cape this weekend when leader Helen Zille travels to Mthatha and Cape Town mayor, Patricia de Lille, finds herself in Humansdorp.

De Lille will be joined by MP, Elza van Lingen and Kouga Councillors when she addresses a meeting at the Kouga Cultural Centre tomorrow at noon.

Party leader, Helen Zille will be hold a rally at Walter Sisulu University's Mthatha campus.
