Eastern Cape police are investigating the murder of two women and the wounding of a third in two separate incidents.
In the one incident in the Matatiele area, a 54-year-old man shot and wounded his 24-year-old wife and fatally wounded her mother following an argument.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said that the man then shot himself.
He said the man’s wife is in critical condition in hospital.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found at her home in the Mahasana Village in the Nquba Locality near Willowvale.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said her 18-month old baby was found unharmed next to her body.
He said the motive for her murder is not yet known and her identity is being withheld.
“No suspect has been arrested so far. Police are appealing to anyone who can assist with the information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect/s to contact Wilowvale Police at 047 499 6234 or Crime Stop 08600 10111,” he said.
