The Mount Road Cluster Community Policing Forum Board has collaborated with a school in Gelvandale in Port Elizabeth's northern areas in reaffirming the police's commitment to creating safer communities through community policing partnerships.
Police spokesperson, Col. Pricilla Naidu says SAPS used the opportunity to stimulate active participation between the community of Gelvandale in the fight against gang violence.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga also attended Saturday's event to celebrate Chapman High School's 40th anniversary.
She said in her keynote address that the police would not only take care of people in the streets, but also in schools.
