Police open inquest docket after East London crash

An inquest docket has been opened following the death of a motorist in East London on Tuesday night.

Eastern Cape Provincial Transport Spokesperson Unathi Binqose said the crash happened on Union Avenue, near the Sasol Garage in Selborne at 22:30.

It is alleged that the SUV was traveling along the East direction of Union Avenue when he lost control at the curve and collided with a tree in the middle island.

"At the time of the accident, the driver was in his vehicle alone.

"He was declared dead at the scene," said Binqose.

An inquest docket has been opened and registered at the Cambridge SAPS.
