Police minister to launch festive season campaign in George

Police minister Nathi Mthethwa will officially launch the National Duty Calls Safer Festive Season Operations in George on Thursday.
Its aimed at ensuring that South Africans are, and feel, safe - especially over the December holiday period.
The annual Duty Calls operations commenced on 15 October and will be reviewed on 31 January next year.
The national launch in George will be followed by provincial launches, where the crime trends specific to each province will be addressed.
The operations will largely focus on certain crime trends, including aggravated robberies, crimes against women, children and people with disabilities, illegal firearms and the enforcement of the liquor and second hand goods act, border security, municipal by-laws and road safety.
