Eastern Cape police have issued a warning to the public to be alert when carrying larges sums of cash.
Spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says with many businesses closing this week, employees will be flush with cash.
She says instead of carrying cash, they should rather deposit their money into their accounts and swipe their bank cards.
Janse Van Rensburg also offered the following suggestion to business people.
"Businesses depositing large amounts of cash must also be alert and change their routes to and from the bank, change their times and also be aware of suspicious behaviour around them. If you are being followed obtain the details of the vehicle, phone 10111 or contact your nearest police station" Janse van Rensburg said.
