Police in George appeal to victims of rental scam to come forward

 The Hawks in George are appealing to members of the public who may have fallen victim to an alleged rental scam by a Knysna estate agent to come forward.

Police spokesperson, captain Bernadine Steyn, says 4 cases of theft have been opened since the 7th of February with Knysna police.

Its alleged that money for the renting of houses from both the lessor and lessee has been misappropriated at the Estate agent business.

Steyn says an amount of R400 000 is involved.

She says anyone who may have lost money in this way should get in touch with the police's commercial crimes unit in George.

No arrests have yet been made.
