Eastern Cape police have released the identities of the family members slain in a shooting tragedy near Cradock on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson, captain Ernest Sigobe, says the deceased were 31-year-old police constable Bongani Mqhayi, his 32-year-old wife Ayanda and their twin children, aged between six and seven months.
They were found shot to death in their vehicle near the entrance to a national park outside Cradock.
Sigobe says constable Mqayi was stationed in Cradock while his wife had worked for several years for the George Municipality.
It's understood that Ayanda Mqayi has another child from a previous marriage who escaped the tragedy by remaining in George and not traveling to Cradock to attend a traditional wedding.
The motive for the family tragedy is not known.
