Police have identified the name of the man who was stabbed to death during a farm attack in Kirkwood on Sunday evening.
Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart said he was the 51-year-old Duaene Truter.
SAPS have since launced a manhunt for three suspects who attacked Truter and his family on their farm Dunbrody just after 7 pm.
Swart says one man first entered the house and Truter and his 18-year-old son managed to overpower him.
However, Swart said the other two suddenly appeared and stabbed Truter several times in the back.
Truter and his son released the suspect and all three fled on foot.
The father was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
It is not clear at this stage if anything was stolen from the house.
