Police identify elderly lady murdered in Gonubie home

East London Police have identified the women who was murdered at her Gonubie home yesterday, as Marlene Cairns.

A case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated after the 75-year-old Cairns was stabbed to death and her 77-year-old husband, Neil, critically injured.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala, says the couple both sustained stab wounds to their upper bodies.

Two men entered the home and demanded cash and attacked the couple, when they said they had no money.

The suspects fled with some money found in a purse and are still at large.
