Police find Sassa cards used for collateral at shebeen

East London police have arrested two people for selling liquor without permits.
Spokesperson Capt. Stephen Marais says they received a tip-off , and raided a house in the Santa informal settlement.
He says police also confiscated 40 ID documents and SA Social Security Agency cards.
Marais says the owners of the ID's and SASSA cards allegedly consumed liquor at the shebeen, and presented their grants as collateral.
A 40-year old woman and a 32-year old man were arrested, and will be charged with selling liquor without permits, and for contravening the credit act, as people's ID documents may not be retained.
