Police say they have attempted to identify the body of a child which was found near Cookhouse on Monday, but due to it's severe decomposition, have been unable to positively identify it through DNA sampling.
However, they believe it to be that of three-year-old Leanne Adams, who was reported missing several weeks ago.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Elmarie Lötz, says they suspect foul play.
She says the toddler had been missing since the 9th of May.
Lötz says Leanne was in foster care, as both her parents were deceased.
The only link that could be made to the missing child was the clothing found on the scene and its resemblance to the clothing worn by the reported missing toddler.
