A veteran Eastern Cape policeman whose arrest of a well-known PE gangster led to him being jailed for life, has nine other life sentences under his investigative belt.
Warrant Officer, Christian Rowan, has been in the SA Police Service for 24 years, the last 12 as a detective at Gelvandale police station.
On Tuesday, the PE High Court sentenced 39-year-old Franklin Louw, to life imprisonment for murder and an effective 15 years for attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Louw was convicted of killing 20-year-old Wayne Leonard in Schauderville in June 2013 and the attempted murder of his friend, who managed to escape the shooting.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Celiwe Binta and police management welcome the sentences imposed on Louw.
