Police breakthrough in PE murder

Port Elizabeth police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of an elderly Kabega Park woman.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the suspects from Kwazakhele, are aged between 20 and 28.

The two are alleged to have been involved in the murder of 78-year-old Marlene Webber during a robbery at her home on 20 August.

Janse Van Rensburg says the men are due to appear in court on Monday.

"The detectives were working non-stop since the case was reported.  They followed up on information and on Friday 28th a suspect from Kwazakhele came and handed himself over to police and was arrested on a charge of murder," she said.

Janse Van Rensburg said "after they (detectives) followed up more information a second suspect was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning."

She said police also recovered some of the property stolen from Webber's home.
