A spate of violent crimes shook Plettenberg Bay at the weekend after a young woman was raped and an elderly woman held hostage during a house robbery.
Police spokesperson, captain Bernadine Steyn, says a suspect involved in the robbery of a 70 year old woman on Saturday died following a shoot-out with police.
She says the man had stolen jewellery and a firearm.
In the second case, police are searching for four suspects who allegedly raped a woman after they forced her at knife point into their car.
Steyn says the woman was robbed of her cellphone and jewellery.
