A 56-year-old man, who appeared in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Friday in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Sandisile Mona has abandoned his bail application.
Mona was reported missing in April this year.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie says a passer-by, who took his dog for a walk in Ladywood in August, discovered the remains of the young girl.
DNA samples matched that of Mona's.
Motseki Palasi made a brief court appearance while a group of Plettenberg Bay residents marched from Kwanokuthula to the town's magistrate’s court against his release on bail.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on the 18th of October.
