Two pit bulls belonging to two neighbours in Kirkwood had to be euthanized on Wednesday after a toddler was killed.
A spokesperson for police Sergeant Majola Nkholi says the three-year-old was playing in the neighbour's yard in Aqua Park when he was bitten by the dogs.
He says the victim, Charl Baartman, was rushed to hospital where he later died.
Nkholi says details are still sketchy at the moment and an inquest docket has been opened.
