PetroSA says its Mossel Bay plant will investigate complaints from residents about an unpleasant smell in the town.
Spokesperson Tumoetsile Mogamisi says PetroSA acknowledges public concerns about the smell in certain areas and says they are working closely with the Garden Route District Municipality’s Air Quality Control to establish and eliminate the source.
This follows complaints from residents in Dana Bay, Asla Park, Heiderand and Mossel Bay about a gassy smell.
Residents told Algoa FM News that they smell it often and suffer from headaches and dizziness. Mogamisi says The District’s Air Quality
Officer has notified PetroSA to identify and fix or to discontinue any industrial process that could be linked to the odour until the processes can be run without giving off an offensive smell
