Two suspects have been arrested after the body of a petrol attendant was discovered inside a water drain in the small town of Hendrina in Mpumalanga.
Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli says 39-year-old Malawian National Lifa Yinda was missing for more than a week but nobody raised the alarm or reported it to the police.
He says on Wednesday, Yinda's employer became concerned when an unusual smell was coming from the water drain situated behind the fuel station.
Colonel Mdhluli says when the man opened the drain lid he made the gruesome discovery of Yinda's half-naked body.
He says exceptional detective skills came into play that led to the arrest of two suspects aged 24 and 27.
They are both due in court on Friday.
The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.
