Police in Gqeberha are searching for unknown suspects who broke into the Woolworths store in the Walmer Park Shopping Centre on Monday night.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says at about half past six when the store was already closed, the suspects smashed the front window before stealing perfumes and sunglasses.
She says the value of the stolen items is yet to be determined.
A case of housebreaking is under investigation
In March this year, a shot was fired inside the mall during an armed robbery at the iStore where robbers stole items on display.
A security officer was also beaten by one of the suspects.
At the time, Marketing Manager for the Centre Deveda Bloem said the safety of shoppers, tenants and staff remained a priority.
She confirmed in a later statement that 12 suspects were involved in the incident.
The Centre was accessed through Entrance 2 at different intervals, and two security officers and car guards stationed in that area were taken hostage at the time.
The men fled in two vehicles, again via Entrance 2 and no shots were fired.
Bloem says they are grateful that no staff or tenants were harmed during the incident and said they were fully cooperating with police as the investigations continue.
