A decomposed body that washed up at the River Mouth in Sedgefield last week has been identified.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the body of 61-year-old Johannes Le Roux was discovered by a beachgoer, who spotted the body hidden underneath branches near the water.
Police initially opened up an inquest docket when the body was discovered on Monday the 10th of July.
Sergeant Spies says an autopsy has since revealed that Le Roux, whose body was in an early stage of decomposition, had multiple stab wounds to his back.
The victim also sustained a head injury and a murder docket has now been opened.
No suspects have been identified as yet and any person with information is urged to contact the Knysna police.
