A 23-yer-old woman from Peddie is expected to appear in the local Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of perjury.
According to police, the woman reported a rape case at the Bell Police station and accompanied them to the crime scene.
Upon arrival, police arrested the suspect and seized his cellphone as part of the investigation.
When police checked his phone, they established that the woman was upset because she had not been paid after they slept together.
The 37-year-old suspect was released and the woman detained on a charge of perjury.
