PE women left traumatised after home-invasion

Three Port Elizabeth women were left traumatised after intruders forced their way into a home-care centre in Walmer in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that according to police information the caretaker of the centre heard a noise and went to investigate.

“The 34-year-old woman noticed two unknown men forcing the interleading door open. The complainant was overpowered as she tried to stop them,” she said.

Naidu said the three suspects armed, with a knife and a screwdriver, entered and demanded cash.

“The two women, aged 65 and 86 years, were woken up and shoved around and assaulted. The suspects fled with two TV’s and three cellphones,” she said.

Naidu said police are investigating a case of house robbery and anyone who can assist in tracing the suspects should contact Walmer police.

“Police are also warning the communities that it is an offence to receive or buy stolen property,” Naidu said
