PE teenager drowns while spearfishing at Noordhoek

A Port Elizabeth teenager has drowned while spearfishing at Noordhoek.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Johan Rheeder says the boy went diving with two friends at around 7-30 on Saturday morning, when his friends later realised that he had disappeared.

He says they immediately contacted the police.

Divers later found the body.

Rheeder says police have opened an inquest docket.

The name of the deceased will be released after his next-of-kin had been informed.
