A Port Elizabeth teenager who sustained serious burns when his kite touched an electrical wire, has died of his injuries.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said 18-year-old Ethan Louis passed away in hospital on Monday due to the serious burns he sustained in last Wednesday’s incident.
She said Ethan and a seven-year-old boy were flying their kites close to electrical power lines, in Second Street, Windvogel, when the kites touched an electrical wire.
Naidu said the current passed through the teenager who sustained serious burns while the younger boy sustained minor injuries.
Large parts of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro was without power following the incident.
She said an inquest docket has been opened.
