PE teachers to protest against Department of Education

Preparations remain on track for a mass protest on Friday by parents, teachers, and learners from at least 15 high schools in Port Elizabeth's northern areas.
The march, which will include religious leaders, is in protest against the Department of Basic Education's pro-crastination in appointing non-teaching staff at schools.
Organisers will also use the opportunity to highlight other social factors like drug and alcohol abuse that they say flow from a poor education base.
Andrew Sauls of the Bethelsdorp school governing body unit, says the success of any school depends largely on its teachers and the support staff.
Pastor Neville Goldman of the ministers' forum says its their right to take to the streets again in protest against the departments' lethargic action and disregard for this essential service in schools.
