A Port Elizabeth taxi owner had a miraculous escape when he was shot nine times by two men on Wednesday night.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Dumile Gwavu, says the taxi owner also managed to shoot back, wounding one of the gunmen.
They are both in hospital.
Gwavu says the shootout took place when the taxi owner arrived at his home in Fazzie Street in Govan Mbeki township shortly after 9pm and was confronted by the two men.
He says the second suspect fled and is still at large.
