Port Elizabeth police are searching for a lone gunman who shot a well-known Northern Areas tavern owner.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says 51-year-old Julian Baartman, died in hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
He says he was shot three times by the gunman who entered the popular Club 147 tavern in Kobus Road early on Tuesday night.
Labans says police believe the shooter had been dropped off and then picked up again.
The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
