A Port Elizabeth security officer was shot dead during a suspected robbery which occurred over the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, said members were called to Mase Street in Kwazakhele early on Saturday night, following reports of a shooting.
He says when police arrived on the scene they found the body of 42-year-old Sibusiso Mabizela lying outside his vehicle.
Beetge says it appears that he was shot while sitting inside the car, as the window was shattered.
His firearm was missing.
No arrests have been made and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
