Port Elizabeth police said that the taxi driver believed to be responsible for the deaths of three teenagers has been identified.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre’ Beetge, said that he is 30-year-old Brighton Tsvipa, whom Beetge said appeared to be in the country illegally.
“He has been on the run since the accident and after the vehicle was left abandoned again close to the house where he was residing in Qhagquwa Street in Missionvale,” Beetge said.
Three teenagers, including two 14-year-old girls, were killed when a mini-bus taxi ploughed into a large group of learners partying outside the Eyethu nightclub in Zwide early on Sunday morning.
“Police are urging our community to be on the lookout for this person and to contact the police when spotted,” Beetge said.
“Alternatively, the investigating officer Captain Schalk van Wyk can be contacted at 082 527 7495 with information that can assist police in finding him,” he said.
