Port Elizabeth police arrested a man they found hiding in the roof of business premises that he burgled on Sunday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said SAPS members responded to a complaint of a house-breaking in progress in Hancocks Street, North End.
She said police found the padlocks on the front gate and the roller door were broken and on searching the premises they also found the wiring had been cut and copper pipes removed while equipment was also damaged.
“A thorough search of the premises resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old male who was found hiding in the roof. The members recovered two backpacks with wiring and copper pipes,” Naidu said.
The suspect will appear in court this week.
