St Johns Group of Companies CEO George Woods says they'll be doing a complete review of all the staff working at the Stella Londt retirement home in Port Elizabeth.
That's in the wake of a 34-year-old carer at the Sunridge Park facility being among the suspects arrested in connection with the murders of 91-year-old Agnes Elaine Burns and 87-year-old Rosemary Langton.
They were both residents at Stella Londt Retirement Home and died earlier this month when robbers bound and gagged them in their rooms and made off with valuable items including Kruger Rands, elite watches, gold rings, a wedding ring with a precious stone, as well as other jewellery and a cellphone.
Woods told AlgoaFM News the Group was horrified at developments and that police clearance would now be run on all staff members.
He said a further risk assessment of the premises was being done and all other vulnerabilities, including security, were being reviewed.
Woods also expressed his extreme gratitude to SAPS following their investigation which led to a speedy arrest.
The 34-year-old female carer and four men arrested in connection with the incident are all due to make their first appearance in the PE Magistrates' Court ton Monday afternoon.
A 30- year-old man and the woman will be charged with murder while the other three suspects aged 20, 27 and 33 will be appearing on charges of accessory to murder and money laundering.
