A Port Elizabeth policeman has been wounded after wrestling with a suspect who had grabbed the policeman's fire-arm.
Police spokesperson, captain Johan Rheeder, says the police constable and a colleague had responded to an incident in Walmer Township in the early hours of Friday morning.
When the policeman tried to take a man into custody he allegedly grabbed the policeman's fire-arm and in the ensuing struggle a shot went off, wounding the policeman.
Rheeder says the policeman's colleague then shot and wounded the suspect.
