PE police searching for four suspects following a cash-in-transit robbery and car hijacking

Port Elizabeth are searching for four armed suspects who robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle in Wells Estate using a hijacked vehicle.

According to Captain, Andre' Beetge, a Blue Toyota Corolla was hijacked at gunpoint from its owner in Chrevolet Street in Markman on Monday morning.

Beetge' said two hours later the same vehicle was used as a getaway vehicle following a cash in transit heist at Truckers Inn on the R335 opposite Coega Village, in Wells Estate.

"Three security guards of Transcash were making a cash pick up and upon returning to their vehicle the four suspects robbed them at gunpoint," he said.

Beetge said the suspects fled with a substantial amount of money in the Toyota Corolla which was found abandoned a few kilometres away on the Old Grahamston Road, about 30 minutes after the robbery.

"Police are appealing to any person that could assist police in this investigation to contact the Motherwell Serious Violent Crime Task Team on 082 441 8121," Beetge said.
