Port Elizabeth police are searching for an armed gang who shot and killed a man, hijacked his bakkie and then robbed two petrol stations.
Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says the drama unfolded in Kwazakhele shortly after seven on Monday night when the gang shot and killed a 45-year-old man from Grahamstown before hijacking his vehicle.
He says the gang were then allegedly involved in two robberies at petrol stations in the city in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Jarvis says police are also trying to establish whether the gang had also been involved in other criminal acts in the eight or so hours since hijacking the vehicle.
The car was later found abandoned in Walmer township.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
