Port Elizabeth police are investigating a triple-murder after three men were killed in separate tavern-related incidents during the weekend.
Two men were shot and killed in Zwide and Kwazakele while another was stabbed to death in New Brighton.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge said 30-year old Siswe Saaiers was shot and killed after he gave a lift to two unknown suspects for a set fee from the KFC at Njoli street to a tavern in Nosidima Street in Kwazakhele at about 3:30 am on Sunday.
He said Saaiers arrived at the tavern to a white Renault Clio blocking his way. His two passengers in the silver VW Polo got out the car and started an argument about the trip fee.
Captain Beetge said an armed suspect then approached them and started firing shots, wounding the victim several times in his neck and shoulders.
"He attempted to reverse his vehicle away from them but ran into a fence in Madaka Street. At least four suspects, including the two whom he gave a lift to, chased him and fired more shots his way. He passed away on the scene" said Beetge.
In the second incident, Beetge said a body of a man estimated to be between the ages of 50 - 60 years-old was found with a stab wound in the upper-body in Njoli Street during the early hours of Monday morning.
Another body of an unknown man was found lying in the street close to a tavern at Ngcoloza Street in Zwide at about 22:45 on Sunday.
The body was found with several gunshot wounds in the head.
Captain Beetge said the motives behind all these murders were not yet known.
Police have urged anyone with information that could to the arrest of the suspects to contact their nearest police station.
