Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of attempted murder, highjacking as well as reckless and negligent driving after a 19-year old woman was threatened with a firearm by suspects in Humewood.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says she was sitting in her vehicle in Oceanview Street late on Wednesday night when she was approached by two men and a woman.
The suspects demanded the woman's cell phone and keys before fleeing in her car.
Janse Van Rensburg says police later spotted the hijacked car in Schauderville and a high-speed chase ensued.
She says the suspects fired shots at the police who returned fire, before the vehicle came to a standstill at a taxi rank near Mercantile Hospital.
One suspect was arrested while the two other suspects who sustained gun shot wounds are under police guard in hospital.
