PE police investigate attempted murder in Helenvale

Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of attempted murder, after an 18-year old was found lying in Fitchart Street  in Helenvale in the city's northern areas on Friday.

Col Pricilla Naidu says according to police information, the victim and two friends went to a shop, when a suspect approached them and stood behind the victim.

She says the suspect produced a firearm and fired one shot at his head, before running away.

He sustained a bullet wound behind the ear.

The motive for the attack is unknown and the Provincial Gang Unit is investigating.

No arrests have yet been made.
