Port Elizabeth police have identified the man who was killed in a motorbike accident in the city on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says he was formally identified as the 49-year-old Gordon Whitford from Cotswold.
The accident happened where Cape Road joins up with the N2 Highway near Westering.
Janse van Rensburg says when police arrived on the scene paramedics had already declared him dead.
At the time his identity was unknown and the only lead police had was the number plate on his motorbike which was registered in the Northern Cape.
Janse van Rensburg says family members positively identified Whitford on Wednesday morning.
