Police are still trying to identify a man who was shot and killed in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says officers on patrol in Kwazhekhele noticed a VW Polo speeding shortly after 11 pm and followed it to Boxongo Street where they found it stationary with its lights still on.
She says police then heard a single gunshot and approached the scene on foot.
The victim, believed to be in his thirties, was found lying in a nearby park with a single gunshot wound to his forehead.
Naidu says police detained a 32-year-old suspect who got back into the stationary Polo shortly after the shooting.
A 9 mm Norinco pistol with the serial number filed off, was found near the body.
The motive for the murder is unknown and anybody who can assist police in identifying the victim is urged to contact Detective Captain Frank Van der Berg on 082 394 5957.
It is suspected that the victim is from the area.
The suspect will appear in court soon.
