A Port Elizabeth man has been critically wounded in a daylight shooting in Helenvale.

Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says 40 year old Roland van Belling, was shot four times on Tuesday morning by a lone gunman.

He was admitted to hospital where he is said to be undergoing an operation.

Police are investigating whether the shooting is gang-related.

Jarvis says an arrest could be imminent.
